Terms of use

Plain English, but complete. These terms apply when you buy, download or use iKnowMyDisplay, or use this website.

These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and iDevelopApps (“we”, “us”), the maker of iKnowMyDisplay. They cover the app and the website at iknowmydisplay.com. By buying, downloading or using iKnowMyDisplay, you agree to them. If you use it for a company, you agree on its behalf and confirm you're allowed to.

Buying a licence

  • Dodo Payments is the Merchant of Record. They sell the licence to you, take the payment, charge any sales tax or VAT, and issue your receipt. Their terms of sale also apply.
  • One-time purchase. You pay once. There is no subscription and no renewal.
  • Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay. The launch price is for the first 100 Macs: each licence counts its Macs, and Suite licences count too. Later price changes, up or down, don't change what you paid.
  • No trial. Instead, every purchase can be refunded within 14 days (see Refunds).

Your licence

When you buy iKnowMyDisplay, you get a licence key and a personal, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to:

  • install and use iKnowMyDisplay, with every feature, on as many Macs at a time as your licence is for (1, 2 or 5);
  • use it for personal and business purposes, with no separate business price;
  • move an activation to another Mac by deactivating it on the old one.

The licence doesn't expire as long as you keep to these terms. You may not:

  • use your key on more Macs than your licence allows, or publish it;
  • sell, rent, lend, sublicense or transfer your licence without our written consent;
  • get around or interfere with the licence checks;
  • copy, modify or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows this regardless of these terms.

The iKnow Suite and owner prices

A Suite licence is one key that unlocks iKnowMyDisplay and iKnowMyMac on as many Macs as it is for (1, 2 or 5; 2 activations per Mac, from one pool shared by the two apps), under these terms and iKnowMyMac's terms. The Suite is sold at a launch price while the first 100 Macs last. Owner prices are for people who already own a licence for one of the apps and buy a licence for the other; we check that licence before checkout. Each iKnowMyMac or iKnowMyDisplay licence can be used for one owner price. If the licence you bought it with is refunded or charged back, the key bought with it is deactivated. If you refund the owner-price licence instead, your original licence keeps working and can be used again.

Updates and support

Updates for the current major version are free and arrive through the app. We decide what goes into each update, and may change or remove features; some features depend on parts of macOS that Apple can change, and the app turns a feature off if macOS stops supporting it. The system requirements are a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Support is by email at support@iknowmydisplay.com.

Refunds

You can get a full refund within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason. The refund policy explains how. This doesn't limit any refund rights you have under the law where you live.

Deactivated licences

A refunded or charged-back purchase's key is deactivated. We may also deactivate a key obtained by fraud or used beyond these terms; we'll tell you by email first where we can.

Changes to your displays

iKnowMyDisplay changes display settings only when you ask, or when a rule you set up runs. Every change to a mode, scaling or display power undoes itself after 15 seconds unless you keep it, and the app never turns off your last display. Restore everything (⌃⌥⌘R, or the menu item) removes virtual displays, turns every display back on, clears software dimming and reverts the last mode change. The optional helper writes display override files only; removing it removes every file it wrote. You are responsible for the changes you keep.

Acceptable use

Don't use iKnowMyDisplay or this website to break the law, and don't attack, overload or probe the website, the downloads, the update feed or the licence service.

Ownership and trademarks

iKnowMyDisplay, its code, design and this website belong to iDevelopApps. Your licence gives you the right to use the app; it doesn't transfer ownership. Open-source components are used under their own licences, listed in the app.

Apple, Mac, macOS and Apple silicon are trademarks of Apple Inc. Other product names, including monitor, hub and dock names, belong to their owners. iKnowMyDisplay is not made or endorsed by Apple.

No warranty

To the extent the law allows, the app and this website are provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. Diagnoses are guidance from what macOS and your hardware report and may not find every cause; the compatibility checker is guidance from published specifications. Nothing here limits consumer rights that can't be limited by agreement.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for any claim about iKnowMyDisplay is limited to what you paid for your licence. These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. Please write to us before going to court: most problems are solved by email.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and will change the date at the top when we do. A change never takes away what you already bought: your activations, updates for your major version and your refund window.
